While the features of the Skinny Dip series have been listed, I haven't explained some of the less obvious benefits.
Clearly, weightloss, improved health, and increased fitness ability are all benefits of balanced nutrition and exercise, but there's more.
Anytime you clean up your diet and get exercise, you're energy level increases. In fact, this was one of the first things I noticed back when I changed my ways. It used to take me a couple of days to recover from two busy days at work as a hairstylist. When my lifestyle changed, I was suddenly able to do more without feeling exhausted. All along I had felt terrible, but had no idea. Weird, right?
I went for several years, working and raising my three kids with a body that had a very low performance level. Unfortunately, our normal energy and health aren't always normal, and since we have nothing to compare them to, we just blow it off -- until we get really sick. Once you get going, you will notice your body responding to the positive changes you are making. You're will feel better every day.
One of the common complaints I hear is the fact that it's difficult to cook healthy. This is especially true for people who have had very little experience with preparing healthy meals. When you begin to build up a collection of healthy recipes, you are more likely to continue eating healthy. You will also be more creative as you become familiar with a variety of foods.
Meal planning will finally make sense. I don't know how many times I messed up by not being prepared. Lets just say that if I'm hungry enough, and I don't have a plan, it's not going to be pretty. So with a menu and grocery list, you're not going to be worried all day, every day about what you're making for dinner. Instead, it's all done, making it easy to stay on track.
Since you can also make your own meal plan and shopping list, you'll get the hang of planning ahead. The daily, and very much disliked, OMG-what's-for-dinner stress, will disappear.
Regular exercise improves strength, cardio endurance, flexibility, energy, and range of motion. Stronger muscles will better support your joints. Don't forget that your heart is a muscle too -- keep it fit and it won't have to work as hard.
Did I mention the mood lift, stress release, and smile on your face that also goes with the territory? Let me tell ya, it makes a huge difference. Life is so much easier to deal with when you don't feel glum and stressed.
Slowly but surely, as you move on throughout this journey, you will gain confidence, happiness, and the ability to do more.
Every day and every step of the way, you're going to love the new you even more.
